Imagica Theme Park moments with G-Force of Roller Coaster

Hey friends,

First of all, thank you very much for your appreciation for my last posts The man who sells everything- Jeff Bezos and Amazon and The Six-Vein Sprit Sward of Alibaba. I am sure you have learned something new and exciting form these posts.

Secondly, I apologies to all of you that I could not post a new blog last week because I was out with my colleagues for the new year planning. After completing planning, we went for Imagica Theme Park.
We enjoyed a lot and rode every possible ride including Dare to death, Pendulum, roller coaster. The first ride we took was Roller coaster. That was my first experience with the roller coaster and it was full of thrill. All of us initially afraid to ride but we took the chance and rode the roller coaster. It was breath taking experience as initially it went up on the rail slowly and suddenly fall down and again suddenly accelerated and took sharp turns. Sometimes we felt heavy and sometimes light (Well this is due to science behind the roller coaster ride). We felt heaviness and lightness due to change in speed and direction. This is due to the force acting on us called as G-Force. Now let’s see the science behind the roller coaster and the G-Force science.

Roller coaster is the best place to experience the G-Force effect on human body
For G-force, G means acceleration due to gravity (Scientific symbol is g) and acceleration means change is speed in particular time. This G-force is the reason why we feel the weight on earth. At sea level, the valve of g is 9.81m/s2 (meter per second square). Means, if a ball falls down from a particular height then it changes its speed by 9.81 m/s2. As we go in upward direction , the valve of g decreases and if we go under the earth surface then also the valve of g decreases means g is maximum on the surface of the earth (It means if we measure our weight then it will be maximum on earths surface only, neither under the earth surface not above the surface ). Remember my friends, weight is the multiplication of mass and acceleration due to gravity (g). It means the force acting on us is the product of our mass and the acceleration due to gravity g acting on us. Suppose the mass of a ball is 1 kg then the valve of force acting on it will be equal to the valve of acceleration due to gravity. This is called as 1 G-Force.

We experience this G-Force in many places like when the elevator is going upward, we feel heaviness for sometime or when the elevator is going in downward direction then we feel like our weight is suddenly reduced. This is due to the change in direction of motion and the acceleration g.

Roller coaster G-Force principal
Also, when roller coaster goes upward, we feel so much weight, it feels like suddenly we became heavy and even can not lift our hand easily and when same roller coaster comes down, suddenly we feel like we are flying in the air. That feeling of weightlessness is due to change in acceleration due to gravity.

When something is falling down from a height towards earth with change in speed is 9.8 m/s2 (lift going down or roller coaster falling) then 0 G-Force acting on each kilogram of our body. Exactly opposite happened when a thing is going in upward direction (Upward going lift and upward going roller coaster).

Modern airplanes can bear up to 4.33G. Means if their speed is changed by 42.5 m/s2, then also those airplanes can fly without any physical or technical failure. Fighter places can bear even more G force but the pilot has to wear a specially designed suit so that his blood pressure and other biological process could not get disturbed considerably.

Now the question is how much amount of G-Force a human body can bear? Well it depends upon many things like for what time the G-Force is acting, in which direction it is acting, human body’s position, etc.

So to understand this, let’s go step by step,

If you are traveling through airplane you experience this G-Force effect while the place is taking off. At that point, the G-Force is acting in the direction of our spinal chord i.e. G-Force acts vertically on human body. But in this normal sitting position, human body can not bear much G-Force (Max 5G, that is also after months of training, else human blood pressure changes and can feel unconsciousness due to lack of oxygenated blood to brain). But if the human body is laying horizontal to earth surface then its G-Force bearing capacity increases up to 9 G. That is why the astronauts’ sitting position is horizontal to earth surface in space shuttle because they experience up to 9G force while the rocket is going upward. But before that, they have been trained for months with specially designed suit so that their body and muscles can adapt to sustain that much G-Force.

Below are some examples where we can experience the G-Force:

  •  Roller coasters are designed in such a way that while riding on it, the G-Force valve will not cross 3G, but in abroad, some roller coasters can give 5.5G experience.
  • A free-falling sky diver can experience 1G force it its last stage of falling.
  • Astronauts experience zero G-Force in outer space or ins space station.
  • We can experience the zero G-Force in the parabolic flight of airplane.
  • Fighter plane’s pilot can experience up to 9 G-Force.

Whatever the science behind it, but I enjoyed every second of it. Thanks to Imagica and the science for giving us such a thrilling, lifelong experience.
